Matt and I were able to get away this past weekend, without the kiddies, to spend some time together! We went to New York City and did a bunch of the typical tourist-y stuff.
We walked, and we walked, and we walked, and then well we walked some more! We never took a cab or the subway- impressive, I’d say!
We saw the Empire State Building, Times Square and all it has to offer with ABC, CBS, NBC, the coolest Disney store I’ve ever seen, lots of stimulating bill boards and lights and people….
We walked our way to Central Park and in and around it a bit, not the whole 6.2 miles of it, as I had already done my fair share of walking, but got a good taste of it! We ate lunch in Rockefeller Plaza and soaked up the sunshine.
We took in a Broadway show- A Million Dollar Quartet! We both really enjoyed the show. It was about the ONE and ONLY time that Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins, & Jerry Lee Lewis got together for a “jam session” at Sun Records in 1956. The actors were wonderful, and great type-cast of the originals. The music and energy from the show were very entertaining. Although, I did not take pictures of the show, here is one I found on the web of the cast… and a picture of the signage…
I would really recommend this show, if you enjoy any of their music and music styles!
We continued our adventure of NY City with a walk across the Brooklyn Bridge, views of Lady Liberty and the Wall St. Bull, and of course of The World Trade Center Site along with the make shift 911 memorial space they currently have.
We had a great time together, getting away for just a little bit and a needed break for the Mommy, anyways, from the ever energetic, adventurous, creative, explorative kiddies!
