Today's Update

Last night, Wednesday, we came back into the hospital. kaitlyn's bilirubin count had climbed to 18.5. She's been under the lights since about 9pm last night. They were to test her levels again at Noon today, but they had a VERY HARD time drawing the blood needed. After about 3 heel pricks, a needle to the arm, and finally another arm attempt- they were able to get the blood- so the test wasn't even sent off until 2pm.
So around 3 today we should learn more about where she's at and when she might be able to go home! They really want levels below 10; 8 would be great. So if after this first test we are not there, they will test again- which means drawing MORE blood out of her already poked and proded little body- not sure where else they can poke her! She also has an IV in her left arm to help hydrate her more....
we need more po*opy diapers and lower bilirubin count!
Thanks for checking in with us and your prayers. It's hard on a mama to see her little baby wince repeatedly as getting stuck with needles and such....

Oh, Cheryl.....I am sorry you're having to go through that. When they kept coming in to get blood from Tennyson I finally just left the room (especially after they messed up a sample and had to come back and get more). We too prayed fervently for a single digit count and are doing the same for Kaitlyn. I know it's hard.....Hang in there.

i know how hard it is to see your little girl going through all that...the really fortunate thing is that even though the levels are higher than they like they don't get dangerous or harmful until they hit at least 30...that made me feel much better to know that. Hopefully the next IV person will be better - I know they had to stick Kaylee a lot and she had an IV for several days too. We're praying for you...lots of poop (from Kaitlyn of course!) and go home soon!

I will continue to pray for Kaitlyn. I hope that the count is lower I will pray for single digits!
